The Common Rail Direct injection (CRDi) motor in the EX CRDi represents the state-of-the-art in modern turbo diesels. This advanced 2.0 litre engine uses a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), an intercooler and the latest in Bosch common rail injection design to deliver 103kW of power and an enormous 304Nm of torque at just 1,800rpm. All this impressive technology translates into effortless cruising and towing1, remarkable fuel economy of 7.1L/100km**, and easy compliance with tough Euro IV emissions standards.
Sportage is equipped with four wheel independent suspension for predictable and safe handling in all road conditions. And when you want to leave the bitumen behind, it's nice to know you have the benefits of high ground clearance, underbody protective skid plates and rugged design to facilitate your escape.
In Sportage EX V6 and CRDi, the hassle-free Electronic Torque Distribution 4WD system means you've got exactly the right amount of grip you need, wherever you go. In normal driving, it will select 2WD for optimal fuel economy. But if the system detects slippage in the front wheels at any time - such as on a greasy road - it will automatically transfer up to half the available torque to the rear wheels to maximise traction. If driving off-road or in particularly slippery conditions, you can lock Sportage EX into 4WD via a switch on the dash.
Kia Sportage offers a range of safety features to protect you and your passengers, providing peace-of-mind at all times. The Sportage seatbelts have dual pre-tensioners and load limiters to reduce the risk of injury in a sudden stop. Sportage's high tensile frame is engineered to minimise the effect of impacts, while front airbags for the driver and passenger offer protection in the event of a collision. If an accident becomes unavoidable, doors automatically unlock to help passengers easily get out when the vehicle comes to rest.
