The Civic Hybrid is our Ultra Low Emission Vehicle, powered by Hondas Integrated Motor Assist system which combines the use of a petrol engine and a high powered electric motor to boost performance, cut fuel consumption and slash emissions. The new Civic Hybrid has more power, greater fuel economy, better battery recharge than ever before.
The wonderful thing about the New Civic Hybrid is that, well, its a Civic, and continues our long tradition of outstanding fit and finish. The flowing curves and elegant arcs of the body convey contemporary sportiness while style and practicality have been built into every last feature.
The Civic Hybrids distinctive one sweep design with an aggressive, low front grille and cut-off tail is a feat of modern design. Features such as a rear boot spoiler boost aerodynamic performance and thus increase fuel economy. It also has additional engine and front floor undercovers for even cleaner aerodynamics.
Wrap-around halogen headlights and ring-shaped rear tail and brake lights provide illumination and sophistication in equal measure. The look is finished off with low-slung, integrated dual exhaust pipes. The Civic Hybrid also features turn signal lamps integrated into the side-view mirrors.
Take, for example, the deeply raked windscreen. It not only looks sharp, it also promotes maximum visibility. And we abandoned traditional windscreen wipers in favour of new wipers that cover 17% more of the screen than conventional designs.
The New Civic Hybrid has all the space and comfort youd expect and is full of intelligent design thats sure to surprise. Like the new two-tier instrument panel that displays all the information youll need right there in front of you. Then theres cruise control, climate control air conditioning and leather steering wheel.
The revolutionary two-tier instrument panel has been designed around the Multiplex Meter concept. It keeps information like speed, temperature and fuel easy to see, so you can keep your eyes and concentration on the road.
The Civic Hybrid features manual tilt and telescope steering wheel adjustment and also has audio controls on the left side of the steering wheel for volume and channel selection. Cruise control buttons are located on the right side of the steering wheel.
The Civic Hybrid features power windows, central locking and remote keyless entry. The wave key design has an integrated transmitter in the handle with lock and unlock buttons. Complementing the keyless entry system is an improved engine-immobiliser system.
The Rotary control knobs for climate control are centrally mounted for temperature and fan settings, whilst push buttons simplify selection for directing air. The climate control integrates with the hybrid dual-scroll mechanical/electric A/C compressor enhancing economical operation when the air conditioner is used.
More leg and head room, a clever ergonomic brake lever, and a less intrusive gear shift are all designed so you have room to move. Theres increased people room thanks to its innovative flat rear floor, and ample boot space accommodating large items in its 376 litre capacity.
The Civic Hybrid features a fourth-generation Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system delivering significant boosts in power and fuel economy. Despite the increase in power (85kW combined), the Civic Hybrids fuel consumption is down, with the new generation Hybrid going through a mere 4.6 litres per 100 km.
Hondas fourth-generation hybrid combines a petrol-powered engine with a high power electric motor to boost power and cut fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. A Nickel-Metal Hydride battery pack is used to capture and store electricity for the electric motor.
The Hybrid engine draws on an ultra-thin electric motor for supplementary power when needed, such as during acceleration. And the amazing electric motor has the ability to generate and recharge its own batteries while cruising, decelerating and braking.
During acceleration, the engine or the engine working in tandem with the electric motor, propels the vehicle. During cruising, the petrol engine and/or the electric motor can propel the vehicle, depending on conditions. During braking, the petrol engine deactivates and the electric motor acts as a generator to replenish the battery pack.
Our Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), provides smooth and predicatable transitions and helps keep the IMA system operating at its peak efficiency. The CVT shifts seamlessly throughout the rev range by helping the engine stay in its most efficient operating range for both performance and economy.
An electronic drive-by-wire system enhances the driving character of the Civic. With smart electronics connecting the throttle pedal to the throttle butterfly valve in the intake manifold, the engine response and IMA operation can be optimised to suit the driving conditions and to better match the drivers expectations.
The Civic Hybrid feature a sport-oriented speed sensitive Electric Power Steering (EPS) that increases power assist at low speeds and reduces power assist at high speeds.
When 'AUTO STOP' is displayed on the lower dash, the car is running on the electric motor alone. It means your car is emitting no pollution, so when you see the 'AUTO STOP' display, remember to smile.
Occupant and pedestrian safety is a high priority at Honda. The Civic Hybrid takes occupant and pedestrian protection to a new level, featuring a comprehensive array of safety equipment.
The Civic Hybrid is equipped with dual-stage, dual-threshold (i-SRS) airbags for both the driver and front passenger. These are designed to minimise the potential for airbag injury while providing head and chest protection for the occupants in the event of a frontal collision.
The Civic Hybrid also features driver and front passenger side SRS airbags and front and rear curtain airbags, utilising sensors located in the side of the vehicle to determine the most appropriate deployment in the event of a side impact.
Advanced 4-channel ABS brakes with a new version of Electronic Brake Distribution technology, independently modulates braking power at each wheel and allows the rear wheels to react independently while cornering. This enahances the ABS systems ability to influence vehicle stability and safety.
Both front seat belts have dual seat belt pretensioners. In the rear, your passengers are secured by three point seatbelts. The driver and front passenger are also protected by active headrests, and there are 3 headrests in the rear. The Civic Hybrid also has three child safety seat anchor points to secure your most precious cargo.
If an accident does become unavoidable, Hondas ingenious technology called G-force Control (G-CON) immediately moderates the force of the impact, cocooning you and your passengers in a potentially life-saving survival zone.
